If you require a one on one conference we can meet via Skype or during school hours. However you must set up this appointment with me in class. Also, if you would like you may fill out the contact form at the bottom of this page. I will respond to all emails and contact submissions within 24 hours. If it is a weekend or holiday I ask that you give me at least 72 hours to respond! Remember, I can't help you if I don't know what's going on!
Note to parents:
I am open to meet with you to discuss your students' progress in my course. If you would like to meet with me please contact the school to set up an appointment. I am available during 6th hour. If the issue can be addressed via email please contact me at [email protected]. I will do my best to respond to all emails within 24 hours. If at any time there is an issue with your child I will contact you via phone. Please ensure that the main office has the correct contact information!
Need to talk to a classmate?
In this course it is expected that you will work collaboratively with your classmates. If you are working on assignment together I expect that you will use your "in class" time to communicate. However, if there is something else that needs to be addressed please communicate with each other via Twitter or your personal email. (If you tweet, please use #ELA332!)
In addition to personal communication it is also expected that the class will have discussions as a group. At any time during a unit, you may find a discussion forum. If and when you do, you are expected to fully participate in the discussion. (This means that you post and respond to at least 2 classmates.)
Try posting to the forum below :-)
So what Technology do we need?
The technology needs in this course are very basic. If you need to access the site while in class, please use a class netbook.
In order to complete some of your assignments you will need access to a word processing platform. You may use Microsoft Word (if you have it) or Google Drive (drive.google.com). If you encounter any errors please let me know!
If you would like to access the class site from home you will need a computer with internet access and a quiet place to work. I also highly suggest that you have a pair of headphones because you will be viewing videos and listening to lectures! You can also access the class website from your smart phone!!
What will we be reading?
There will be no outside reading materials required for this course.
We will be using our 9th grade literature books and if there is any additional reading required I will be sure to post the materials here. As you move through your unit pages, please be sure to "check off" the things that you have done so that you can keep up. Sometimes we will do all "in class" work and sometimes I will require you to do things through the class site outside of class.
